SUMMER OUTING TO HYDE HALL - 15TH JULY - REVIEW

A number of Horti members left Sarratt on Thursday 15th July on a coach for an annual trip to an RHS garden - this year it was Hyde Hall in Essex. It had been touch and go whether we would actually be going, due to COVID 19 restrictions, but we did. The coach company, the Horti and Hyde Hall had a fair number of communications beforehand to ensure we all followed the Government rules and guidelines.

The weather was kind to us and we had a good journey round the M25. The gardens are completely different from RHS Wisley, sitting in the Essex countryside, with big vistas across the fields and farmlands. There are large beds of soft, relaxed planting, gradually leading up to a large dry garden, perfect for Essex with its limited rainfall, the Queen Mother’s Rose Garden, a beautiful lily pond and a large greenhouse set in a circle surrounded by vegetables.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the day and judging by the plants going into the coach at the end of the day I think Hyde Hall enjoyed our visit too. It was just so nice to be able to do something with friends that was almost back to normal!
